Electron Microscopy in Pathology Course, February 27-29, 2024

In this course different fields of EM-pathology will be covered and explained based on the decades of experience by Eric Wartchow, PhD, Electron Microscopist at the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine, Children’s Hospital Colorado, President-elect of the Society for Ultrastructural Pathology (www.ultrapath.org). Dr. Wartchow has been organizing similar courses in various labs over the whole world and has agreed to come to the Netherlands to present and teach. Electron Microscopy (EM) is regarded a crucial technique for pathology departments in academic institutes. It is essential for a series of diagnosis which cannot be made with light microscopy. Specifically in the Nephrology (kidney diseases), EM is much appreciated but also for the diagnosis of diseases in muscle, skin, cilia, heart, and infectious diseases. All these subjects will be discussed. The course will be hybrid; so online and onside at the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, Core facility Cellular Imaging, Electron Microscopy Centre Amsterdam.
